In The Last of Us Part 2 so much of the story is told through the audio. They can do that because they have well-thought-out audio systems that are immersive and feel realistic. One example is how they made a whole system revolving around the breathing of the character you play. When the heartbeat of the character goes up, they start breathing faster too.
An important mechanic in the game is listening to your surroundings to find enemies and other noises. This works so good that blind people are actually able to play this game!
