The pew pew of this gun makes it sound so cheap as if the gun is made out of plastic this ruins the emerging experience for this realistic shooter. In the older America's army 2.8.5 the sounds are way better.

Although the sound in this game leaves a lot to be improved, what I find particularly awful is the voice-acting. It is never consistent, most of the time it doesn't fit the character and the lines don't really make any sense in relation to the gameplay.

By using alternating states of open moments to hit things and assured rhythms allowing various clever echos they can create interesting melodies that are more fluid rather than precise and almost always sound good.

It creates a very interesting dynamic, by using these musical structures they allow the player to feel more in control than in many other rhythm or music based games.

The soundtrack for this game added a real nice depth to the game. This video shows one of my favorite memories of this. The scene takes place in an asylum and in the background you can here playfull sounds of children mixed with sounds of gore. Not a very good game to start with but it's made really annoying by the computer voice nagging at you for everything you do ( good or bad ). Add to that the mediocre sfx of everything else and you have a game that's best played with sound muted.

I dont know what it is but I think the voices of most charecters sound like they are spoken by a computer. As if the words are recorded seperetly and the computer puts them together to make sentences.

Game Title: GTA IV

I really like the sound-design in GTA IV, especially when stepping in/out of a car/house. The radio dims when you step out of a car, but you can still hear it.
It's a small detail, but it really boosts up the realism.

I also really like the radio stations in GTA IV. The (fake) commercials and interviews and the difference between every station make the world much more 'realistic'.

The youtube title says all.. the laughable voice acting in this game, together with the bad timing and way too long gaps between sentences completely destroy the mood.

Game Title: Burnout: Paradise

The game Burnout: Paradise bought existing songs to put in their game. The only thing they didn't consider while doing that: if the music fits the game. They used old rock-music that doesn't fit the fast cars and quick action. Most of the gamers immediatly switch songs…to find out that everything is old rock…and classical music. Both not very fitting for a game like this.

On top of that, there is an voice over that you can't mute and says all sorts of thing you don't want to hear. For example: in this clip he tries to get you to the site of the game company behind this game. Also, during the game he makes "comments" on how you're driving.

This is the only game I've ever played complety without sound…it annoyed me so much!
