Description: Although the overall sound of this game is really good, the sound of the car engines and stuff, the sound of the crashes are just not present at all.
When I saw this (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-09-gran-turismo/56836) video on gametrailers it really anoyed me that I didn't hear any kind of sound after the car hits a wall with like 200 km/h. Even when you hit other cars you hear nothing!
Sorry for the bad video quality by the way, they are cam recordings, but it's still pretty clear that there's a lack of crash sounds.
This game is not yet released but it predecessor didn't have crash sounds as well, so this could be pretty final regarding the sound. But I hope that they add some kind of a sound that let's you know you hit something in the final game because this just doesn't feel/sound right at all.

Game Title: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Your name: Paul Suurmeijer
Pretty or ugly: Ugly
Description: In my opinion, Warhammer 40k Dawn of War (1) is flawed in audio design. The game is an RTS and as you may or may not be aware a typical RTS player selects and deselects units often.
Units in Dawn of War respond with long 'motivational' sentences such as "For the Emperor" and the like when you select them or order them to attack/move. Some units give the feeling they're holding a speech.
Combined with an unvaried combination of speeches this makes for an annoying audio feedback system while moving and fighting with your army.

Game Title: Deathrow
Your name: Joram Wolters
Pretty or ugly: ugly
Description: Deathrow is a pretty old xbox title, one of the first in fact.. But that doesn't excuse the horrible, horrible soundtrack, the extremely poor voice-acting and the overdone commentator. And don't claim the soundtrack is just a matter of taste, I love just about any kind of electronic music, but this stuff is just really, really poor.

Game Title: Metal Gear Solid
Your name: Jonathan Barbosa Dijkstra
Pretty or ugly: Ugly
Description: The sound of enemy choking takes the player out of the immersion of the game by being dreadfully designed. The player hears the same sound in quick succession, a sound effect not on par with the rest of the game.
PS: Dont mind the shitty recording, its really the choking sound im pointing out here.

Game Title: Monkey Island
Your name: Rhéna
Pretty or ugly: Bad but funny
Description: This is an excerpt from the game Monkey Island. I did not isolate parts of the clip, because the whole clip includes parts of the fault. But this fault makes the game funny to play. The reason: The images of the characters talking do not sync up with the lip movements. There are moments at 0:08 in the clip Guybrush is talking but his lips aren't moving. At 0:50 in a dialog between Guybrush and another pirate you can see that once again the lips don't match the voices. And finally at 2:05 a duel breaks out between Guybrush and this pirate. The sword sounds are out of sync and you can clearly see that you hear the two swords touching eachother while both Guybrush and the pirate have their swords distant from one another

Pretty or ugly: ugly
Description: I like the game but this music is very frustrating and ruining the game.
This shouldnt be music to hear when playing in game but maybe only for the credits page or something else nobody checks when playing this game.
I always played the game without music. there is no particular part that makes it very ugly. its just every part.

Game Title: Wii Fit (Aerobic Step Plus)
Your name: Andrea
Pretty or ugly: Ugly
Description: In this Wii fit game you need the music for your rhythm. But as soon as you take a step out of sync with the music rhythm the feedback sound is also played out of sync. This creates confusing situations when you try to get back in the rhythm.

Game Title: Aion – Tower of Eternity
Your name: Jeffry van der Heul
Pretty or ugly: Ugly
Description: Here is a good example of not thinking things through in therms of gamedesign/audiodesign. This takes place in the armory on an MMORPG called Aion. Here you can upgrade your skills which can sometimes take you more then a good 30 mins.
The sounds themselves aren't that bad, but see what happens if you don't take the fact into account, that many people will be at the same spot, at the same time.

Game Title: Half Life 1, break a leg
Your name: Guus Hoeve
Pretty or ugly: Ugly
Description: Fast forward to exactly 3.00 minutes in this movie. This is exceptionally bad game audio. It tries to tell you that you suffered a great injury, but in the game it doesn't show. "major fracture detected". I would at least expect to walk slowly or something since I just dropped from a great hight. The feedback is good but comon, don't tell me I just broke my leg when I seem to be jumping and climbing with ease, albeit the suit.
