From 0:55 the "crow" sound really gets to much. I think it gets irritating after some repeats and it doesn't sound like a "beast" but more like a crow getting shot in the air. I think they should have used a more subtile sound instead of this one.

When you use Adrenaline in the game Alien Swarm a very fitting soundtrack starts playing.
The reason i find this fitting is because it fits exectly with the other soundtracks playing at the time. (so it can be switched on any moment)
It really represents the slowmotion feel you experience ingame.

Hoewel ik normaal gesproken de voorkeur geef aan muzikale thema's, viel deze game juist op door de afwezigheid daarvan. De complete soundtrack bestaat uit atmosferische geluiden die redelijk op de achtergrond liggen. Er wordt een constante suspense gecreeerd waardoor plotselinge sound effects er extra hard in knallen, zoals in het filmpje bij de HOTEL-letters.

De voornaamste reden voor dit stuk aan Sound Design is voor mij het glas. Naast dat Heavy Rain een game was die me compleet opslokte vond ik dit een van de scene's waarbij ik wist dat ik verder moest maar het zo naar vond om door dat glas te kruipen. Elke kleine beweging die je maakt confronteert je ermee dat door een donkere tunnel moet kruipen met gebroken glas.

Bij Unreal werd ik mij voor het eerst bewust dat er minutenlang een hartslag te horen was op de achtergrond. Het effect hiervan is dat je eigen hartslag zich gaat aanpassen.

This is for a school project for what makes a bad sound Design for games. I find this a because when i play 1 game it will take more than 10 hours to finish it and therefore its a good game design. But the music is +/- 1.30 hours long And then start over again. Than violins start to do pain in my ears. Image if you play the game over 80 hours (what is normal for sid Meijer's games)

Tomb Raider Underworld

The sound of your character dying is never pretty. However, I really appreciated Lara's screams in TR Underworld when I was confronted with my lack of 3D jumping skills. The screams appeared to keep changing and often I couldn't tell whether or not I heard that specific scream before. Even after falling form a high spot a million times in a row.
What I really liked as well is the fact that the type of scream depends on the circumstances of Lara's death. In the clip for example, you can hear the difference between dying from a fall and dying from a wall of flames.
